2027 Elections: David Mark Warns Presidency May Use Courts to Undermine ADC’s Rising Momentum

ABUJA, NIGERIA – Senator David Mark, Interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has sounded an alarm over alleged plans by the current administration to manipulate the judiciary in a bid to derail the rising popularity of the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in Abuja during a visit from the ADC National Legal Support Group, led by Abdullahi Abdurrahman, Mark warned that the ruling forces may exploit the legal system to frustrate the ADC’s growing political momentum.

310 Lawyers Mobilized Nationwide

Abdurrahman disclosed that 310 lawyers have volunteered to defend the party in legal matters, both current and forthcoming. He emphasized that the legal support is fully represented across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, ensuring a robust defense network.

“We are prepared to handle any legal case against the ADC across the nation,” he affirmed.

He praised Senator Mark’s leadership, noting that the legal team stands behind the current administration of the ADC due to its vision for transformative leadership and national development.

High-Profile Legal Team in Place

The ADC’s legal muscle includes prominent names such as:

  • Barrister Peter Oyewole, ADC’s Legal Adviser
  • Abubakar Malami (SAN), former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice
  • Professor Oserheimen Osunbor, legal scholar and former Edo State Governor

Abdurrahman urged the party’s legal department to ensure that documentation and case updates are made readily available to keep the legal team efficient and effective.

In response, Barrister Oyewole assured the group that all legal formalities regarding the new coalition forming the revamped ADC have been properly executed, saying:

“There is no cause for alarm.”

David Mark: ADC Is the Party to Beat in 2027

Senator David Mark, a former Senate President, echoed confidence in the ADC’s future but warned of political interference through legal means:

“ADC is the party to beat in 2027. The current administration may attempt to use the courts to frustrate our momentum.”

He called on Nigerians to rally behind the ADC as a credible and patriotic alternative that can move the country forward.

Mark lauded the legal support team for their vigilance and urged them to remain proactive as the party pushes ahead with its campaign for electoral victory.

Outlook: ADC Positions for 2027 With Legal Backbone and Grassroots Surge

With a strong legal defense structure, a coalition of experienced political actors, and growing grassroots appeal, the ADC is positioning itself as a serious contender in the 2027 elections. The party’s leadership remains confident in weathering any political or legal storms ahead.
