President Bola Tinubu and state governors reassured Nigerians that the current economic difficulties and hardships they are facing will soon give way to prosperity. They emphasized that these challenges are necessary and the people’s sacrifices will pave the way for abundance and a better future for the country. Tinubu delivered his message in Lagos after observing the Eid prayers, expressing faith in God and urging Nigerians to have faith in the nation and unite to build it. He also called for unity, emphasizing the importance of national identity over religious and tribal identities. Tinubu extended his prayers to the Nigerian troops in the fight against insurgency, wishing for their victory and peace in the country.
The Chief Imam of Lagos State, Sheikh Sulaiman Abu-Nolah, led the Eid prayer and performed the slaughtering of the ram, symbolizing the act of Prophet Ibrahim in obedience to Allah’s command. Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat conveyed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s felicitations, urging Muslims to support the President’s “Renewed Hope” agenda and pray for the leaders’ success.
Governors and clerics across the country also emphasized peace and economic prosperity in their Sallah messages. Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello called on the people to be law-abiding and security-conscious while expressing gratitude for the progress made in the state during his tenure. He assured the citizens that with patience, better days lie ahead under the current administration. The governor encouraged the chief imam to use his religious leadership to foster unity and not be swayed from his duties.
In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Ebiraland, Sheik Salihu Abere, urged Muslims to strengthen their relationship with God through intensive prayer to receive His favour.
