Vehicle with Large Cache of Ammunition Intercepted in Katsina
In a significant security operation, the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC) intercepted a vehicle loaded with a large cache of ammunition in Batsari Local Government Area on Tuesday evening. The discovery was made around 7:30 PM after the operatives acted on intelligence reports, stopping a commercial vehicle with plate number BTR 45 XA for inspection.
According to Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, Katsina’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, the inspection revealed a hidden stash of 610 rounds of ammunition for AK-47 and General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) rifles, along with two magazines, concealed under one of the seats.
A suspicious individual, dressed in white voile clothes, was identified as the person responsible for hiding the ammunition. However, the suspect managed to flee the scene before he could be apprehended.
Mu’azu recounted the incident, stating, “The suspect insisted on sitting at the rear of the vehicle and appeared visibly uncomfortable and anxious. When the vehicle was stopped for inspection, he evaded capture, leaving the ammunition behind.”
The Katsina State Government praised the vigilance and dedication of the Community Watch Corps in helping to ensure the safety and security of the state. Governor Dikko Radda reaffirmed his administration’s support for strengthening security agencies in their ongoing fight against criminality in Katsina.
