House of Representatives member, Alhassan Doguwa, has fired back at former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso after he predicted that Nigerians would reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
During a political gathering in Kano on Thursday, Kwankwaso, while receiving defectors from the APC to his New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), claimed that citizens, particularly in the North, were disillusioned with the current administration and would not tolerate the APC beyond 2027. “Nigerians are tired and cannot endure beyond 2027,” Kwankwaso said.
Doguwa, who is the Chair of the Northern Regional Caucus of the 10th House of Representatives, quickly responded, dismissing Kwankwaso’s remarks as “hallucination.” He argued that Kwankwaso was still reeling from his 2023 presidential loss to President Bola Tinubu and suggested the former governor should prepare for political retirement.
“At a political gathering on Thursday, my colleague Kwankwaso took his hallucination to the moon when he said Nigerians are tired of the APC and will change it in 2027,” Doguwa stated on Friday.
Doguwa praised the APC government under Tinubu, pointing to achievements like securing over $30 billion in foreign direct investments, lowering the country’s debt service ratio, and combating insecurity in the North West. He also criticized the NNPP for what he described as “non-performance” in Kano, expressing confidence that the APC would reclaim the state in future elections.
Highlighting Tinubu’s leadership, Doguwa added, “A fresh air is already permeating the North West given the onslaught against bandits. Our people are now returning to their farms,” praising the administration’s efforts to restore peace and rebuild the region.
