The Abia State Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, has dismissed three officers for allegedly abducting and extorting unsuspecting victims.

State Police spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka, identified the officers as Jonas Nnamdi, James Daniel, and Ifeanyi Emeka. They were arrested on January 29 after being found with an electric baton, an assault rifle, and a Beretta pistol.

The officers allegedly conspired, hired a minibus, abducted civilians along Port Harcourt Expressway, and extorted money from them. They also demanded extra payments from their victims’ families before releasing them.

Following an investigation and orderly room trial, they were found guilty of misconduct and dismissed. Their police equipment has been retrieved, and they, along with two civilian accomplices, have been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department for prosecution.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the police command’s zero tolerance for corruption and misconduct, assuring the public that any officer involved in wrongdoing will face consequences.
