Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged the Federal Government to ensure full transparency in managing the $1.07 billion allocated to the health sector in the 2025 budget.

In a statement on Sunday, Atiku called on President Bola Tinubu’s administration to provide clear details on how the funds will be spent, warning against past incidents where public funds allegedly went missing under bizarre circumstances involving animals.

He emphasized the need for accountability, stating that every kobo must be used effectively to strengthen Nigeria’s healthcare system.

“The government must put in place mechanisms for public audit and accountability to ensure these funds are properly utilized,” Atiku said.

He also criticized the lack of a clear framework detailing the expenditure plan, stressing that Nigerians deserve full disclosure on how the money will be used to improve healthcare services.
