Plateau Killings: Governor Mutfwang Holds Crucial Stakeholders’ Meeting to Address Insecurity

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, on Monday convened a high-level meeting with key stakeholders in response to the recent wave of killings and destruction of property across the state.
During the meeting, held in Jos, the governor emphasized the need for a united front in tackling the persistent insecurity that has plagued the state for over two decades. Mutfwang noted that the ongoing violence has severely affected the state’s agricultural output and economic development.
“Since the Jos main market was burned down, the economic impact has been devastating,” Mutfwang stated. “Even our farmers can no longer access their lands without risking their lives.”
He expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for the security interventions initiated in Plateau, while also urging community leaders, political figures, and citizens to contribute practical ideas toward ending the crisis.
“There is no part of Plateau that hasn’t felt the impact of this insecurity,” the governor said. “We are here today to put our heads together and find sustainable solutions.”
The closed-door session was attended by former governors of the state — Fidelis Tapgun, Joshua Dariye, Jonah Jang — as well as retired Rear Admiral Bitrus Atukum. Other participants included serving and former senators, members of the House of Representatives, traditional rulers, religious leaders, government officials, youth, and women representatives.
Governor Mutfwang urged all attendees to speak frankly and offer constructive input that could help restore peace and stability to Plateau State.
