‘2027 Is a Done Deal’ – APC Boasts as Kano Senator, NNPP Chieftains Join Tinubu’s Camp

ABUJA – The All Progressives Congress (APC) has boldly declared that the 2027 general election is already a “done deal,” signaling heightened confidence in its growing national support base amid fresh waves of defections.
At a press briefing on Thursday, APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje officially welcomed a powerful group of defectors from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), led by Senator Kawu Ismaila, representing Kano South. Ganduje noted that this defection marks a key milestone in the APC’s political consolidation, especially in the northwest.
Among those joining the APC from Kano include former and serving legislators, ex-commissioners, and influential political strategists like Hon. Kabiru Rurmum, Rt. Hon. Zubairu Massu, Dr. A.B. Bichi, Hon. Abbas S. Abbas, Hon. Sha’aban Lawal, and Hon. Badamasi Danbatta, among others.
“We believe in President Tinubu’s leadership and his Renewed Hope Agenda. We’ve moved from elections to advocacy — bringing more political leaders and even governors into our fold,” Ganduje said.
The defection of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori earlier in the week further buoyed Ganduje’s optimism. According to him, more high-ranking PDP governors are expected to switch sides in the coming months.
“With the Delta governor, his cabinet, House of Reps members, and other PDP bigwigs joining us — including a former vice presidential candidate — we are expanding rapidly. And I can tell you, 2027 is a done deal,” Ganduje asserted confidently.
When asked about future defections, Ganduje smiled and said, “Yes, more are coming. And wherever elections will be held, APC will win by God’s grace.”
On his part, Senator Kawu described the defection as the alignment of “like minds” in Kano. He also pointed to his 2023 election performance as evidence of his political weight.
“Just compare my results with that of Kwankwaso in the same polling units. That should tell you the influence we’re bringing to the APC,” Kawu said.
As APC cements its position ahead of the 2027 polls, and more political heavyweights switch camps, the party seems determined to maintain its grip on power — riding on a wave of defections, strategic alliances, and Tinubu’s reform agenda.
