Delta Defections: Omo-Agege Welcomes Oborevwori, Okowa to APC

Following the defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his predecessor, Ifeanyi Okowa, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has called on APC members in Delta State to warmly receive the new entrants from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement issued on Sunday, Omo-Agege described the mass defections as a significant endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, crediting it for driving growth and development across Nigeria.

He assured existing APC members that the party leadership is carefully addressing all issues arising from the defections with “prudence and foresight.”

“The leadership of the Delta State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) warmly welcomes His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and all leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the APC,” the statement read.

Omo-Agege emphasized that this political realignment is a historic moment, symbolizing the growing strength and appeal of the APC in Delta State. He urged unity among party members and encouraged local government and ward executives to come out in large numbers for a grand welcome event scheduled for Monday, April 28, 2025, in Asaba.

“This development reaffirms our commitment to progressive governance, promising a brighter future for our people and a more prosperous, secure, and united Nigeria,” he said.

Omo-Agege concluded by expressing gratitude to President Tinubu for his leadership, attributing the political shift to the president’s support and vision for a stronger Nigeria.
