“I Was Not Kidnapped” — King Sunny Ade Dispels Rumors Amid Daughter’s Allegations

Afro-Juju legend, King Sunny Ade, has publicly debunked viral rumors of his alleged disappearance or abduction, stating emphatically that he is “alive, well, and actively performing.”

The music icon addressed the speculation in a live video posted by his wife, Mrs. Bose Olubo-Adegeye, on Tuesday, following a wave of concern sparked by his daughter, Damilola Adeniyi-Adegeye.

On Monday, Damilola had alarmed fans by accusing her stepbrother, Dayo — who also serves as KSA’s manager — of allegedly detaining the legendary musician and mishandling his affairs. She demanded Dayo’s arrest in a series of fiery social media posts, further claiming he had restricted access to their father and stolen from him.

“Where is he? Where are his phones? He hasn’t been online or answering calls,” Damilola wrote. “I want Dayo apprehended. He has a UK visa and thinks he can escape.”

However, in a calm and composed video response, King Sunny Ade clarified the situation, assuring the public of his safety. “Nobody kidnapped me. I believe the world loves me,” he said, noting that he had recently performed at a show in Lekki, Lagos, and was en route to another event.

The 77-year-old music legend thanked fans and family for their concern, attributing the misunderstanding to some of his children not seeing him recently.

“I didn’t go anywhere. This is me. I’m still doing music — it’s my life and my business,” he stated. “Enjoyment continues, by God’s grace.”

Despite the internal family drama, fans were relieved to see the celebrated performer in high spirits, reaffirming his commitment to the stage and his global audience.
