Afrobeat sensation Ayra Starr has officially earned the prestigious Platinum Certification in the United Kingdom for her chart-topping single, “Rush.” The song surpassed 600,000 units in combined sales and streams, solidifying Starr’s growing influence on the global music scene.
The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) officially recognised the song’s monumental success with a platinum plaque, making Ayra Starr the first Nigerian female artist to achieve this remarkable feat in the UK. This accomplishment underscores her rising status as one of the most sought-after African music stars in recent years.
The Grammy-nominated artist’s hit track, “Rush,” which debuted in September 2022, was a viral success and charted in the UK Official Top 100, marking a major milestone in Starr’s international career. It also reached the top 10 in several countries, including France, Lebanon, and South Africa.
“Rush” has garnered numerous accolades, including a Diamond Certification in France in 2023. This track was not only a commercial success but also earned Ayra Starr her first Grammy nomination for Best African Music Performance at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards.
