Vinicius Jr. and Vazquez Injured, Ruled Out for Rest of Real Madrid’s La Liga Season
Real Madrid has suffered a double blow as Vinicius Junior and Lucas Vazquez are set to miss the club’s final La Liga matches due to injuries, the club confirmed on Monday.
According to the medical update, Vinicius is dealing with an ankle sprain, while Vazquez has sustained a thigh injury. Spanish media outlets report that both players are unlikely to return before the FIFA Club World Cup, sidelining them for the rest of the domestic season.
The injuries come just a day after Real Madrid’s 3-2 defeat to La Liga leaders Barcelona, a loss that widened the gap between the arch-rivals to seven points with only three games remaining. The result all but confirms Madrid’s trophyless finish to the season.
Upcoming Fixtures:
- May 15: Real Madrid vs Mallorca (Home)
- May 18: Sevilla vs Real Madrid (Away)
- May 25: Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad (Home – Carlo Ancelotti’s final match)
Meanwhile, the Brazilian Football Federation announced that Carlo Ancelotti will officially take over as head coach of Brazil’s national team following the conclusion of the season, marking the end of his tenure with Los Blancos.
