132 Palestinians Killed in Israeli Airstrikes Across Gaza, Including Children in Tents

Children Among 132 Palestinians Killed in Israeli Airstrikes Across Gaza

At least 132 Palestinians, including children sleeping in makeshift tents, were killed early Sunday as Israeli forces launched intense airstrikes across the Gaza Strip, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health.

Among the dead were 36 people, including entire families, who were struck in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis—one of the few remaining zones where displaced civilians had sought refuge. Dozens more were wounded in the attack, with graphic footage showing bodies burned and scattered around the devastated camp.

Victims were rushed to field clinics and the already-overwhelmed Nasser Medical Complex. In total, 464 Palestinians have been killed over the past week as Israel expands its ground assault despite mounting international condemnation.

Horrific scenes also emerged from northern Gaza, where 42 more civilians were killed in sustained bombings. Three Palestinian journalists lost their lives in the Sunday strikes, bringing the total toll of the war to at least 53,339 killed and over 121,000 wounded since October 2023.

The Israeli military has continued to target medical infrastructure. On Sunday, the Indonesian Hospital—northern Gaza’s last operational public hospital—was besieged and declared nonfunctional. Its director, Marwan al-Sultan, described the conditions as “catastrophic,” urging global intervention to protect medical staff.

Hamas labeled the attack on displaced civilians a “brutal crime” and directly blamed the United States for enabling Israel’s ongoing offensive. “The U.S. administration bears full responsibility for this dangerous escalation against children, women, and the elderly,” Hamas said in a statement.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres also voiced concern, warning against Israel’s expanding military campaign. “I am alarmed by reported plans to broaden ground operations in Gaza,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday.

Meanwhile, both Hamas and Israel confirmed that new ceasefire talks are underway in Qatar. Reports suggest that a deal to end the war may include the exile of Hamas leadership from Gaza.
