Nigeria’s Super Eagles sealed a 2-1 victory over long-time rivals Ghana in the semi-final of the 2025 Unity Cup, setting up a thrilling final clash with Jamaica on May 31.

Fast Start Gives Nigeria the Edge

The match sprang to life in the 14th minute when striker Cyriel Dessers controlled a cross inside the box with his chest before smashing home a right-footed shot past Ghana goalkeeper Asare.

Just five minutes later, Nigeria’s pressure paid off again. A free-kick into the Ghanaian box caused chaos, with Razak Simpson heading into his own net to double the Super Eagles’ lead.


Ghana Fight Back but Fall Short

Ghana responded in the 70th minute, with Brandon Thomas-Asante finishing neatly from a low cross to make it 2-1.

Despite Ghana’s push for an equalizer in the closing stages, Nigeria’s defense held firm, with goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali making key interventions.


Final Awaits vs Jamaica

With this win, Nigeria books a spot in the Unity Cup final against Jamaica, who also impressed in their semi-final performance.

The final is set for May 31, where Nigeria will hope to lift the trophy and cap off a strong campaign.
