FCT Traders to Shut Shops as Tinubu Commissions Abuja Road Friday
Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) should expect major traffic disruptions on Friday, June 13, 2025, as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu visits Apo-Wasa Road to commission a key infrastructure project.
The Apo-Wasa Road, officially the Left-Hand Service Carriageway of the Outer Southern Expressway Stage II, stretches from Ring Road I Junction to Wasa Junction. It will be inaugurated at 2:30pm by President Tinubu himself.
To ensure security and smooth execution of the event, the road will be closed from 11:00am to 4:00pm.
🛑 Businesses to Close for the Day
According to a statement by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, traders, mechanics, and shop owners at Apo Mechanic Village have agreed to suspend activities for the day.
“This is to give the president a warm welcome and allow residents to participate fully in the event,” the statement noted.
🚦 Traffic Diversion and Public Advisory
Traffic management personnel will be deployed across strategic points to redirect motorists to alternate routes and ease congestion. Commuters are advised to avoid the area between 11am and 4pm.
“We appeal to road users to cooperate with law enforcement and bear with the government during this temporary closure,” Olayinka added.
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has urged all residents to support the ceremony, marking a significant milestone in Abuja’s ongoing infrastructure development.
