Veteran French striker and former Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette has joined Saudi Pro League newcomers Neom FC, the club confirmed on Tuesday, following the expiration of his contract with Olympique Lyonnais.
The 34-year-old forward, who began and ended his Ligue 1 career at Lyon, will link up with another ex-Lyon talent, Said Benrahma, as Neom FC strengthens its squad for their debut top-flight campaign after promotion from the Saudi second division.
“From the cradle of heritage in Lyon to the frontier of the future at NEOM S.C,” the club wrote in a social media announcement. “Sharpshooter @LacazetteAlex has arrived.”
Lacazette: From Arsenal Star to Lyon Legend
Lacazette returned to Lyon in 2022 after a five-year spell at Arsenal, where he became a fan favorite for his technical ability and work rate. Upon leaving Lyon in 2025, he ranked second in the club’s all-time scoring chart with 201 goals — cementing his legacy as one of their greatest-ever forwards.
Neom’s Summer Reinforcements
Neom FC also announced another addition to their squad: Ivorian midfielder Amadou Koné, who signed from Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims earlier this week.
The Saudi Pro League has continued to attract big-name signings in recent seasons as it positions itself as a top global football destination.
