Anambra APC Blasts Soludo Over Tinubu Visit, Calls It ‘Last Kick of a Dying Horse’
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State has taken aim at Governor Chukwuma Soludo following his recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
In a statement by Okechukwu Modebe, spokesperson for the Nicholas Ukachukwu/Uche Ekwunife Campaign Organisation, the APC described the visit as “a desperate attempt to revive declining political relevance” ahead of the November 8, 2025 governorship election.
“This latest attempt to posture for the cameras with Mr President cannot erase four years of misgovernance, disconnection from the grassroots, and political miscalculations. Parading such meetings as endorsements insults the intelligence of Anambra voters,” Modebe said.
Soludo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), had pledged support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid during the visit. The APC, however, dismissed any suggestion that the meeting amounted to a political endorsement.
Modebe added that the party remained focused on winning both the governorship poll and the August 16 Anambra South senatorial re-run, describing APC candidate Chief Azuka Okwuosa as “a political iron-gate” ready to unseat APGA’s influence in the state. He also urged INEC to ensure a credible election, warning that “the days of business-as-usual in Anambra politics are over.”
In a contrasting tone, President Tinubu praised Soludo in a social media post, calling him “a friend of over two decades” and revealing they discussed reforms, security, and youth empowerment.
“We share a firm belief that all who profess progressivism must work together to deepen our democracy, strengthen security, and transform our economy,” Tinubu wrote.
The Anambra governorship election is set for November 8, 2025, with political tensions already running high.
