The tragic death of Nigerian skitmaker Adetola Samad, popularly known as Comedian Sanku, has sparked a bitter row over an unpaid car loan linked to the Lexus RX 350 SUV he was driving before his accident.
Sanku died on September 2, 2025, in a road crash along Ogbomoso Road in Oyo State. His passing was confirmed by actor Yemi Elesho, who mourned the young comedian on social media.
🚘 The Car Loan Dispute
According to content creator Folorunsho Olayinka (aka Finest), who acted as guarantor, Sanku purchased the 2012 Lexus RX 350 from JJ Motors Empire and Services Limited for ₦25.4 million. A receipt dated June 5, 2025, showed that Sanku had paid ₦7 million upfront and later raised his total payments to ₦12.28 million before his death, leaving a balance of over ₦13 million.
Finest, who addressed the controversy in a TikTok livestream, dismissed claims linking him to the comedian’s death:
“I was only a guarantor because the dealer knew me. What will be my gain in killing someone who owed ₦13 million? I even have voice notes of him thanking me for standing for him.”
He added that he sent money to assist with hospital treatment for survivors after the accident.

However, another friend of the late comedian claimed Sanku was under pressure to return the Lexus for a Nigerian-used Toyota Venza, as he struggled to complete the payments.
In a WhatsApp recording obtained by reporters, Sanku reportedly said he feared being tricked into surrendering the Lexus without a replacement, based on warnings from his uncle, a policeman in Osogbo.

Just a day after acquiring the car, Sanku proudly shared photos of the SUV on TikTok with the caption:
“Alhamdulillah for life, congratulations Adetola,”
while tagging Finest, the guarantor, in celebration.
