Ebonyi Police Commissioner Warns Officers Against Corruption, Extortion

Abakaliki — The Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi State, Mrs. Adaku Uche-Anya, has reiterated the command’s zero-tolerance stance against corruption and extortion within the Nigeria Police Force.

Speaking during the monthly conference of senior officers in Abakaliki, Uche-Anya stressed that corrupt practices by police personnel undermine public trust and vowed that any officer found guilty would face strict disciplinary measures in line with the force’s regulations.

She highlighted the directive of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), which bars officers from interfering in land disputes, insisting that such matters remain under the jurisdiction of the courts. She warned that defaulters would not be spared.

“The Nigeria Police Force will not condone indiscipline or unprofessional conduct. Officers who engage in corruption or meddle in issues outside our mandate will be sanctioned accordingly,” Uche-Anya declared.

The Police Commissioner also instructed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and Tactical Team Commanders to intensify security operations, especially as the festive season draws closer, to ensure safety and peace across Ebonyi State.

Reaffirming the command’s commitment to professionalism and service delivery, Uche-Anya encouraged residents of the state to promptly report cases of police misconduct through the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO).

The Ebonyi Police Command, she added, remains determined to uphold discipline, restore public confidence, and maintain law and order.
