The Osun State Government has officially appointed global Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, as the Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund.
According to the government, the appointment aims to mobilize resources and investments to revamp the state’s sports sector and position Osun as a hub for national and international competitions.
Confirming the development, the state’s Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Sports, Kola Adewusi, stated that the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke remains committed to the transformation of the Osogbo Township Stadium, which is currently undergoing renovation to meet Olympic standards.
Adewusi revealed that plans are underway to establish the Osun State Sports Commission, which will serve as the central body for sports administration, policy formulation, and development across the state.
He said,
“The ongoing renovation and rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium will be completed soon. We are introducing a Sports Trust Fund to attract philanthropists within and outside the state for sustainable sports financing and development.
“Davido has been appointed to chair the Sports Trust Fund, and he accepted without hesitation. His influence and global reach are expected to bring in funds that will transform sports in Osun State.”
The state government reaffirmed its dedication to completing the stadium project and ensuring that the facility becomes a world-class arena capable of hosting both national and international sporting events.
