🪖 Be Ready to Fight Terrorism, Insurgency – Army Chief Charges 6,195 New Recruits

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has called on newly graduated soldiers of the Nigerian Army to remain resolute, courageous, and prepared to combat the growing threats of terrorism and insurgency across Nigeria.
Speaking at the Passing Out Parade of the 88 Regular Recruits Intake in Zaria, Kaduna State, the Army chief addressed the 6,195 recruits who completed their basic military training.
“You are now part of our nation’s solution to insecurity. Your actions must reflect your training — be courageous, professional, and resilient,” Oluyede said.
🛡️ Upholding Army Values in the Line of Duty
General Oluyede reminded the recruits of the core values of the Nigerian Army — discipline, loyalty, integrity, selfless service, courage, and respect for others — which he said must guide their conduct in every deployment.
“Stand by your oath. Be ready to serve with patriotism and sacrifice. This is not just a career — it is a call to protect Nigeria’s sovereignty.”
He recalled that their journey began on January 13, 2025, and acknowledged the sacrifices they had made to reach this milestone.
🌍 National Deployment and Readiness
With the security challenges Nigeria currently faces, the recruits are expected to be deployed across the country to combat threats posed by insurgents, terrorists, and criminal elements.
Oluyede emphasized that while challenges may seem daunting, their rigorous training has prepared them for the task ahead.
“This is just the beginning. You will face difficult situations, but your training has prepared you for the battlefield. Remain steadfast and perform with excellence.”
🪖 Commitment to Welfare and Continuous Recruitment
General Oluyede assured the new soldiers of the Nigerian Army’s unwavering support for their welfare and development.
He also revealed that recruitment for the 89 Regular Recruits Intake is already underway, and encouraged the fresh soldiers to prepare to help usher in the next generation of recruits.
“Your welfare remains my top priority. As you take a break, get ready to support the incoming batch — we are building a strong, capable force.”
The COAS expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria’s Commander-in-Chief, for his support for the Nigerian Army and its mission.
“I appreciate His Excellency, President Tinubu, for his belief in and commitment to the Nigerian Army’s progress,” he said.
