Bryan Mbeumo Joins Manchester United in £65m Deal, Calls It a Dream Come True

Childhood Fan Bryan Mbeumo Joins Manchester United for £65 Million in Summer Rebuild

Cameroon international Bryan Mbeumo has officially joined Manchester United from Brentford in a high-profile transfer worth an initial £65 million, with £6 million in add-ons, the club confirmed on Monday.

The 25-year-old winger, who grew up supporting the Red Devils, signed a long-term deal keeping him at Old Trafford until 2030, with the option of an additional year.

“As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take it,” Mbeumo said. “This is the club of my dreams—the shirt I wore growing up.”

The transfer marks a major milestone in United’s summer rebuild under new head coach Ruben Amorim, as they aim to bounce back from a disappointing season that included a 15th-place league finish and a Europa League final loss to Tottenham.

Mbeumo arrives after an impressive season with Brentford, where he notched 20 goals in 38 Premier League games. Since joining the Bees from French side Troyes in 2019, he recorded 70 goals and 51 assists in 242 appearances, helping them win Premier League promotion in 2021 and finish 10th last season.

Tottenham Hotspur, now managed by Mbeumo’s former boss Thomas Frank, were also interested, but United’s third and improved offer secured the deal.

🔴 Amorim’s Reinforcements Begin

Mbeumo is Amorim’s third signing this summer following the arrivals of Wolves striker Matheus Cunha and teenage Paraguayan defender Diego Leon. The focus is on rejuvenating a misfiring frontline, with last season’s main strikers Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee underwhelming.

“My mentality is always to be better than I was yesterday,” Mbeumo added. “I believe I can reach a new level here learning from Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players.”

United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, expressed excitement about the winger’s arrival, saying:

“Bryan was one of our primary targets. The U.S. tour is the perfect setting for him to integrate and prepare for a thrilling season ahead.”

🗓️ What’s Next for United?

Mbeumo will undergo his medical ahead of Manchester United’s pre-season tour of the United States, which kicks off July 22 with a match against West Ham. The Red Devils will begin their Premier League campaign against Arsenal on August 17
