Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has received a major boost ahead of Sunday’s FIFA Club World Cup final as star midfielder Moises Caicedo returned to full training on Friday.
The Ecuadorian international’s availability comes as a timely lift for the Blues, who are gearing up to face Paris Saint-Germain in a highly anticipated showdown in the United States.
“Moises is an important player for us,” Maresca told reporters at MetLife Stadium. “He participated in the session this morning and I hope we can have him on Sunday.”
Pedro’s Brilliance and Tactical Versatility
Chelsea secured their spot in the final with a 2-0 semi-final win over Fluminense, courtesy of a superb brace from João Pedro. The young forward, signed during the summer transfer window, is already proving to be a vital asset.
“Joao is a very good player,” Maresca said. “The reason why we bought him is we think he’s going to help us against teams that defend deep, low blocks. He is very good in small spaces and has great quality.”
Maresca emphasized that with 48 hours to go, he has multiple selection options and will decide on the final XI based on tactical flexibility.
High Spirits in the Chelsea Camp
As Chelsea prepare for their date with destiny, Maresca reported excellent morale within the squad.
“The mood inside the changing room is fantastic,” he said. “They value what they have done during this competition and this season. Starting with 32 teams and now being one of the last two, they are proud and happy.”
“I have the feeling we are ready to play this final on Sunday.”
