MRS Raises Dangote Petrol Price to ₦925 in Lagos, Up to ₦955 Nationwide

Petrol prices in Nigeria are set to rise again as MRS Oil Nigeria Plc, a key distributor of Dangote Petroleum Refinery products, has adjusted its pump prices, reflecting a recent ex-depot increase.
According to a statement released by MRS, petrol (Premium Motor Spirit) will now be sold at the following new pump prices across zones, starting June 21, 2025:
- Lagos: ₦925 per litre
- South West: ₦935 per litre
- North East & North West: ₦955 per litre
- Central, South East & South South: ₦945–₦955 per litre
This adjustment follows the refinery’s hike in ex-depot price from ₦825 to ₦880 per litre, marking a 6.7% increase.
MRS has encouraged the public to report any station selling above the official rates, reinforcing consumer accountability and compliance.
Marketers React: MEMAN Seeks Clarity
The Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN) said it is closely monitoring the market reaction and is preparing to engage Dangote Refinery for clarity on direct-to-station fuel supply.
Speaking during a webinar, MEMAN Executive Secretary Clement Isong emphasized the need for further dialogue:
“We’re still trying to understand the full implications of this initiative. Is there an equalisation policy? Will there be a unified national price? We don’t yet know,” he said.
Isong also addressed Dangote’s plan to distribute fuel using Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks, acknowledging it aligns with the government’s cleaner energy policy but pointed out that Nigeria still lacks sufficient CNG infrastructure for wide-scale implementation.

This price adjustment comes at a time when Nigerians are already grappling with inflation and rising living costs. The impact on transportation, goods, and services could be significant in the coming weeks if prices remain high.
