The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate financial mismanagement allegations against Attorney General Samson Osagie and Local Government Service Commission Chairman Damian Lawani.
Governor Monday Okpebholo suspended both officials on Wednesday over alleged financial infractions and ordered a committee to investigate the claims. Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, confirmed the suspension in a letter dated February 5, 2025, stating they would remain suspended pending the investigation’s outcome.
Osagie denied any wrongdoing, asserting he was not informed of the allegations before his suspension and is ready to defend his integrity.
PDP Chairman Tony Aziegbemi claimed the suspensions confirmed concerns over reckless financial mismanagement under Okpebholo’s leadership. He accused the administration of corruption, misappropriation of funds, and illegal governance actions.
The PDP called on the Federal Government, security agencies, and the EFCC to investigate the alleged misconduct. Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) said it would respond to the matter on Friday.
