Elon Musk Launches America Party After Feud With Trump Over ‘Big Beautiful Bill’

🇺🇸 Musk Breaks from Trump, Forms New Political Force

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has officially launched the America Party, a new political movement aimed at breaking the dominance of the U.S. two-party system. The announcement, made Saturday via Musk’s platform X (formerly Twitter), comes after a sharp political and personal fallout with President Donald Trump.

The split follows Trump’s signing of the controversial “One Big, Beautiful Bill,” a sweeping budget law that Musk claims will “bankrupt the country.”

“When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy,” Musk posted. “Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”

📊 Poll-Driven Launch: Americans Want a Third Option

Musk based his decision on a July 4th poll he conducted on X, asking users whether they desired “independence from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system.” The results were overwhelming—2-to-1 in favor of a new party, with over 1.2 million participants.

“By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party—and you shall have it!” Musk declared.

🏛️ From White House Insider to Rival

Musk was a key ally and major campaign donor to Trump during the 2024 presidential race, even leading the Department of Government Efficiency in Trump’s second term. But tensions erupted over the new budget law, which is projected to add $3.4 trillion to the national deficit over 10 years.

In retaliation, Trump has reportedly threatened to cut off federal subsidies to Musk’s companies—including Tesla and SpaceX—and even hinted at revoking Musk’s citizenship, despite the billionaire being a naturalized American since 2002.

“They will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth,” Musk vowed, referring to lawmakers who supported the bill.

🗳️ Midterm Strategy: Targeted Disruption

While Musk has yet to announce candidates, he outlined a strategic plan to focus on flipping 2–3 Senate seats and 8–10 House districts in the 2026 midterm elections.

“One way to execute on this would be to laser-focus on just 2 or 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House districts,” Musk posted.

His aim is for the America Party to become the swing vote in closely contested legislation, starting with the 2026 midterms and possibly setting the stage for 2028 presidential ambitions.

🧩 The Challenge Ahead: Breaking a 160-Year Duopoly

Despite his massive financial resources and social media influence, Musk faces an uphill battle in dismantling the Republican-Democrat political stranglehold that has existed for more than 160 years.

Polls still show Trump with over 40% approval in his second term, and third-party candidates historically struggle to gain traction at the national level.
