Fabio Carvalho has completed a move from Liverpool to Brentford for up to £27.5m, including potential add-ons. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder’s transfer is valued at an initial £22.5m, with an additional £5m contingent on performance-related add-ons. Liverpool retains a 17.5% sell-on clause from the transfer.
Carvalho, who previously spent the latter half of last season on loan at Hull City, where he netted nine goals in 20 games, has signed a five-year contract with Brentford, with the option for a sixth year. Brentford manager Thomas Frank praised Carvalho’s versatility and offensive abilities, highlighting his potential to excel as a No. 10 or on the left flank in various formations.
The Portuguese talent joined Liverpool from Fulham in 2022 for £5m and has made 21 appearances for the Reds, scoring three goals. His loan spells at Hull City and RB Leipzig further showcased his capabilities, contributing to his high-profile transfer to Brentford.
Fulham, who originally developed Carvalho, will receive a 20% sell-on fee from the profit of this move. Brentford will kick off their 2024/25 Premier League season against Crystal Palace on Super Sunday, live on Sky Sports.
