Federal Government Declares October 1st a Public Holiday for Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day

The Federal Government has officially declared Tuesday, October 1, 2024, as a public holiday in celebration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement released by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Magdalene Ajani.

Tunji-Ojo expressed his congratulations to all Nigerians, both at home and abroad, highlighting the resilience and dedication of the nation’s citizens. He commended the hard work and sacrifices of Nigerians, assuring that their efforts toward national development would not go unnoticed.

Reflecting on the sacrifices of Nigeria’s past heroes, Tunji-Ojo urged citizens to stay united and committed to building the nation of their dreams. He emphasized that a better Nigeria can only be achieved through collective effort and solidarity.

In closing, he wished Nigerians a joyful Independence Day celebration and encouraged continued dedication to nation-building efforts.
