The Federal Government has announced that its collaboration with Google will help position Nigeria as a global technology hub.
Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency, Inuwa Kashifu, shared this during a television interview in Lagos.
He explained that the partnership focuses on five key areas: infrastructure development, digital skills training, AI innovation, cloud adoption, and investment framework.
Kashifu emphasized the importance of data centers in driving the digital economy and highlighted the need for sustainable energy solutions.
He also stressed the need to integrate digital skills into Nigeria’s education system to prepare the workforce for future opportunities.
Meanwhile, he clarified that the partnership with Awari Technologies is separate from Google’s collaboration and is specifically aimed at developing a local language model to promote Nigerian languages and culture.
This initiative follows President Bola Tinubu’s meeting with Google CEO Sundar Pichai in Paris, where they discussed strategies for advancing Nigeria’s digital transformation.
