Hajj: FCT to Begin Material Distribution on Saturday

February 20, 2025
Hajj

20th February 2025

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board will begin distributing travel materials to intending Hajj pilgrims on Saturday during the second phase of education and orientation in Abuja.

The exercise will take place at the permanent Hajj camp in Bassan Jiwa, near Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, and will run through Sunday.

According to a statement by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Lawal, the materials— including uniforms, literature, and audio guides—will help pilgrims prepare for the journey and continue learning Hajj rites during Ramadan.

Lawal also stated that activities for pilgrims would be suspended during Ramadan to allow them to focus on spiritual observances. Preparations will resume after the fasting period to ensure all pilgrims are well-prepared.

The board remains committed to educating pilgrims on Hajj procedures to ensure they get value for their money.

The second phase of the orientation will be conducted in seven languages by Islamic scholars, starting at 8 a.m. daily. Pilgrims will receive guidance on Hajj rites and updates on new policies introduced by Saudi authorities and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

The board urged intending pilgrims who have not submitted their application forms or international passports to do so promptly to facilitate the processing of travel documents.
