In a statement on Sunday, Mr Clement Ojo, Chairman of Ose Local Government, confirmed the killing and condemned the act:
“While we are grateful that the two volunteers have regained freedom, it is deeply saddening and utterly painful that the life of Mr. Nelson Adepoyigi was brutally cut short by his captors,” Ojo stated.
He described Adepoyigi as:
- A dedicated party man
- A pillar of grassroots development
- Someone whose legacy will be remembered and honored
⚠️ Rising Insecurity in Ondo:
Ojo decried the deteriorating security situation in the area:
“Only days ago, another resident narrowly escaped being kidnapped while parking his motorcycle. These incidents show that insecurity has become a direct threat to the lives of our people.”
📞 Police Response:
Attempts to reach the Ondo State Police PRO, Mr Olayinka Ayanlade, were unsuccessful as his phone line was unreachable at the time of this report.
