Kwankwaso’s Return to APC Unnecessary and Disruptive – APC Youth Council Warns

Kano APC Youth Council Opposes Kwankwaso’s Alleged Return, Cites Political Irrelevance

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth and Students Council in Kano has openly rejected the rumored return of former Kano State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate of the NNPP, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, warning that his comeback would be detrimental to the party’s progress and unity.

Speaking at a press conference held on Tuesday at the Kano Press Centre, Director General of the group, Yahaya Kabo, stated that Kwankwaso no longer holds political relevance in the state and that his re-entry would offer no value to the APC, either directly or indirectly.

“Kwankwaso’s political relevance has come to an end,” Kabo declared. “He now seeks political refuge by any means, but the APC is not a sanctuary for failed politicians, nor is it in need of individuals whose influence could disrupt the unity and strategic focus we’ve achieved.”

Kabo praised the strength of the APC under its Kano State leadership, highlighting current successes including two serving senators, members in the House of Representatives, and State Assembly. He noted that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), under which Kwankwaso contested in 2023, is crumbling due to high-profile defections.

Among notable defectors is Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila of Kano South, a former Kwankwasiyya ally, whose departure, Kabo argued, marks a significant blow to the NNPP’s viability.

According to the council, the APC has overcome past internal conflicts and is fully focused on consolidating its gains and delivering Kano State with over two million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC candidates in 2027.

Kabo further commended APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, for his strategic leadership and credited Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin with absorbing over 80% of former Kwankwasiyya supporters into the APC fold.

He also acknowledged key party leaders like Engr. Abubakar Kabir Bichi, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, Murtala Sule Garo, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, AA Zaura, and Rabi’u Sulaiman Bichi for their roles in strengthening the party at all levels.

As political realignments continue across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections, the stance of youth and grassroots movements like KASASCO signals potential resistance to the return of controversial figures within the APC fold.
