Lagos Building Collapse: Death Toll Climbs to Seven in Ojodu-Berger Incident

The death toll from the collapsed three-storey building in the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos State has risen to seven, authorities confirmed on Monday afternoon. Rescue workers recovered two additional bodies from the debris, following five earlier fatalities reported since the incident occurred on Saturday morning.
The building, which reportedly housed an eatery and other small businesses, collapsed suddenly, killing two people instantly and injuring several others. Emergency response agencies, including the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, and the Nigeria Police, have been working tirelessly at the site.
As of 1:00 p.m. on Monday, rescue operations were still ongoing as officials carefully cleared the rubble in search of any possible survivors or more casualties.
The cause of the collapse remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet confirmed whether additional people may still be trapped.
