Liverpool Crowned Premier League Champions After 5-1 Victory Over Tottenham

Liverpool have officially been crowned 2024/25 Premier League champions after crushing Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 at a jubilant Anfield on Sunday, sealing their record-equalling 20th English top-flight crown.

In front of a raucous crowd of over 60,000, Arne Slot’s side came from behind after an early Tottenham goal to dominate the match and secure an unassailable lead in the standings. With second-placed Arsenal unable to close the gap, Liverpool now sit 15 points clear with four games left.

The atmosphere at Anfield was electric from the start, with fans belting out “You’ll Never Walk Alone” under the bright spring sunshine. Despite an early scare when Dominic Solanke headed Spurs into a 12th-minute lead, Liverpool responded quickly. Luis Diaz equalized minutes later after a VAR review, followed by a stunning strike from Alexis Mac Allister and a clinical finish by Cody Gakpo to make it 3-1 before halftime.

Spurs, fielding a heavily rotated squad ahead of their Europa League semi-final, struggled to contain the relentless Reds. Mohamed Salah added a fourth, delighting the Kop with a goal and a selfie celebration, while a Destiny Udogie own goal capped the 5-1 rout.

Liverpool fans, who missed out on a proper celebration during their 2020 pandemic-era title, erupted in full force, waving flags and scarves proudly proclaiming “Liverpool 20-time Champions.”

Slot’s achievement is even more remarkable given the early-season doubts surrounding his appointment following Jurgen Klopp’s departure. Yet, the Dutchman has guided Liverpool with composure, even amid transfer sagas involving stars like Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Now level with Manchester United’s record of 20 English titles, Liverpool can celebrate their return to the top of English football — and they did it in style.
