Liverpool Push for Jeremie Frimpong to Replace Trent Alexander-Arnold – Paper Round

By Michael Hincks | Updated May 13, 2025

Liverpool are reportedly pushing to sign Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen as a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold. The 24-year-old right-back, who was part of the Bayer Leverkusen squad that won the Bundesliga and German Cup double last season, could be available for under £30 million.

Frimpong, known for his versatility as both a conventional right-back and wing-back, has a release clause in his contract, which makes his move more feasible this summer. Liverpool have been in advanced talks with the Dutch international as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2025/2026 season.

Replacing Alexander-Arnold

While Conor Bradley had been mentioned as a potential candidate to step in as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s successor, Frimpong‘s arrival would likely bring additional competition for the Liverpool academy star. The Reds, after being crowned champions under Arne Slot, are expected to be active in the transfer market to add more depth to their squad.

A Busy Summer for Liverpool

With a modest transfer campaign last season, Liverpool is now looking to make more impactful signings to bolster the squad and ensure they remain competitive in both the Premier League and Champions League. Frimpong, whose potential move would signal a step toward bolstering Liverpool’s defense, is expected to play a significant role in the team’s ambitions for the upcoming season.

Other Transfer News

Elsewhere, Manchester City is targeting AC Milan’s Tijjani Reijnders, with Pep Guardiola aiming to rebuild his squad this summer. Newcastle United is also focusing on contract negotiations, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly keen on Sven Botman. Real Madrid, on the other hand, has set its sights on Tottenham’s Cristian Romero to strengthen their defensive options.
