Manchester United Sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford in £65m Deal – Reports

Ahmad July 18, 2025
Mbeumo

Manchester, UK – Manchester United have reportedly secured the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford in a deal worth £65 million, with a further £6 million in add-ons, making him Ruben Amorim’s third summer signing.

The 25-year-old Cameroon international, who scored 20 goals in 38 Premier League appearances last season, was also on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur, managed by former Brentford boss Thomas Frank. However, United’s improved bid finally convinced the Bees to sell after rebuffing two previous offers.

Medical Scheduled Ahead of Pre-Season Tour

Mbeumo is expected to undergo a medical before joining United’s squad for their pre-season tour in the United States starting Tuesday. He will become the third major signing under new manager Ruben Amorim, following:

  • Matheus Cunha (from Wolves, £62.5m)
  • Diego Leon, a teenage defender from Paraguay

Amorim is overhauling United’s frontline following a disastrous campaign that ended with a 15th-place league finish – their worst since 1973–74 – and a 1-0 loss to Spurs in the Europa League final.

United’s Attacking Overhaul Underway

With Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failing to deliver up front last season, Amorim is reshaping the squad. Reports suggest that Alejandro Garnacho has been told to find a new club, while Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho are both expected to leave following loan spells at Aston Villa and Chelsea, respectively.

Despite missing out on Champions League football, which cost the club an estimated £70 million, United remain aggressive in the market.

Why Mbeumo Fits the Bill

Mbeumo, known for his blistering pace, versatility, and clinical finishing, has played across the wings and centrally during his six seasons at Brentford.

Since arriving from French side Troyes in 2019, he has:

  • Scored 70 goals
  • Provided 51 assists
  • Made 242 appearances in all competitions

He was instrumental in Brentford’s 2021 promotion to the Premier League and their impressive 10th-place finish in the 2024–25 season.

“Mbeumo is the kind of dynamic attacker Amorim needs to reignite United’s front line,” said a club source. “He’s got the experience, creativity, and hunger to make a difference.”
