A Nigerian military officer’s wife, known on TikTok as Everything Woman, has gone viral after releasing an emotional video condemning what she describes as the country’s growing indifference to the deaths of soldiers—particularly the recent killing of Brigadier Uba in Maiduguri, Borno State.
In the video shared on Thursday, she said she spent hours online hoping to find comforting updates or national acknowledgement of the officer’s killing but was met with what she called a disturbing national silence.
“I’ve been online since morning, waiting to see something that will give me hope. Why is everywhere just quiet like a chicken died? When I was younger, if a soldier fell, communities and states closed,”
she said.
She recalled a past era when the death of a soldier triggered immediate public honour, community mourning, and national attention.
But now, she lamented, even the death of a Brigadier General barely sparks conversation.

In her emotional outburst, she expressed disappointment not just in the public but in military families, the government, and security institutions.
“Even military wives are quiet. If you stay quiet, it will affect you. Our government is quiet.
How have we let it get to the point where they kill a Brigadier General and nothing happens?”
she questioned.
She criticised the perceived lack of justice, accountability, and protective measures for soldiers, saying it has left families feeling hopeless.
A Mother’s Fears and Sacrifices
The military wife also reflected on the personal sacrifices of officers’ families—missed birthdays, solo parenting, and years of separation—hoping the service years would end in reunion, not tragedy.
“My consolation was that after carrying my children alone and attending every antenatal without him, one day he would serve 35 years and come back.
Now it seems he might serve forever, and that shatters my hope.”
She warned that the current insecurity and leadership silence were eroding the morale of military families across Nigeria.
