Missing Babcock University Student Found After Public Outcry
Following a viral social media campaign and national concern, Oladipupo Siwajuola, a student of Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, who was declared missing by his mother, Fijabi Oyindamola Omotayo, has been found.
The mother, who had made an emotional appeal via Facebook on Saturday, confirmed in a later update that her son had been located.
“My son has been found,” she wrote in a relief-filled Facebook post.
The university’s Director of Marketing and Communications, Dr. Joshua Suleiman, also confirmed the development in a message to The PUNCH on Sunday, stating:
“Yes, we are aware.”
Although the circumstances surrounding Siwajuola’s disappearance and return remain unclear as of the time of filing this report, the good news comes as a major relief to family, friends, and well-wishers.
Earlier, Omotayo had posted a tearful plea on Facebook, urging the public and security agencies to intervene, saying she last saw her son when she dropped him off at the university on the evening of Sunday, April 27, 2025.
“I dropped him off at the school by myself on Sunday evening, but for the past three days, I have not been able to sleep as I cannot find my son,” she said in a video that drew significant online attention.
The incident had sparked widespread concern, with many Nigerians demanding answers from the school administration and calling for swift action.
As of now, no official details have been released regarding where or how the student was found.
