Again, Many Feared Dead in Abuja’s Nyanya-Mararaba Road Accident
Tragedy struck once again on Abuja’s Nyanya-Mararaba Road, as another fatal accident was reported around Karu Bridge, marking the second major crash in 24 hours.
Witnesses say the Monday evening incident involved a trailer and a vehicle transporting sachet water, resulting in a chaotic scene with heavy traffic gridlock and emergency responders racing to rescue victims.
📍 Background on Ongoing Crisis:
A day earlier, on Sunday evening, a seven-vehicle pile-up also occurred near the same area. Former FCT NUJ Chairman, Emmanuel Ogbeche, shared details of the previous crash on Facebook, calling it:
“A terrible accident involving about seven cars, some beyond repairs, in a crash with a low-bed or caterpillar.”
These back-to-back incidents have raised serious concerns about road safety and enforcement along the busy corridor.
⚠️ Not the First Time:
- At least two fatal crashes were also reported last month in the same Karu Bridge area.
- Locals have called for increased traffic regulation and road infrastructure improvements.
