The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recovered illicit substances valued at ₦1.042 billion after raiding The Hook Hotel (also known as Caesar Hotel and Lounge) in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Following a rigorous search between Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26, 2025, NDLEA operatives seized 589 bags of Canadian Loud, a potent cannabis strain, weighing 417.3 kilograms. Three suspects—Eze Ayitu, Ofuokwu Samuel, and Emmanuel Ameh—were arrested at the scene, while two others, Noble Philip and Kenneth, remain on the run.
Recovered assets believed to be proceeds of drug trafficking included luxury vehicles such as a Toyota Prado Land Cruiser, Toyota Sienna, Volkswagen Delivery Van, Kia Cerato, and a Grand Caravan Dodge, alongside 74 new televisions, 10 used TVs, and 13 refrigerators.
Meanwhile, NDLEA’s Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) intercepted a Saudi-bound cocaine shipment concealed in body creams at a courier service in Lagos, seizing 46 wraps weighing 547 grams. They also intercepted 1.8kg of pentazocine injections and 60 grams of bromazepam tablets destined for Canada.
In another operation, officers in Jigawa State halted a large opioid shipment headed for Niger Republic and Yobe State, arresting suspects with over two million tramadol and pregabalin pills. Follow-up raids in Kano led to the discovery of additional drug stockpiles.
At Seme Border, three Ghanaian women were arrested while attempting to smuggle 4.8 kilograms of Ghana Loud cannabis into Nigeria. Similarly, in Kano, a 60-year-old grandmother was caught with 5.6kg of skunk, while another suspect was apprehended with 100 litres of codeine syrup.
In Edo State, operatives destroyed nearly four tons of skunk on two illicit farms and arrested three suspects during a raid in Ugbodu community.
Meanwhile, NDLEA’s War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaigns continued with advocacy programs held across schools and communities in Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Anambra, and Lagos.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the various commands for their aggressive crackdown on drug trafficking and their ongoing educational outreach to curb drug abuse nationwide.
