The Controller of Ogun I Area Command, Nigeria Customs Service, Idiroko, Mohammed Shuaibu, has emphasized the need for smooth cross-border trade to boost economic growth and national prosperity.
Speaking at the 4th Art for Economic Development Festival in Idiroko, Ogun State, Shuaibu highlighted the importance of trade in strengthening relationships, promoting cultural exchange, and expanding markets.
“Cross-border trade drives economic growth, encourages innovation, and ensures the availability of goods and services for consumers,” he said. He urged participants to use the festival as an opportunity to strengthen trade ties and push for better trade policies.
The festival’s Executive Producer, Dr. Bonny Botoku, described cross-border trade as vital for job creation, market access, and sustainable development. However, challenges such as policy differences, language barriers, and border security issues must be addressed.
