The crash involved a commercial bus, though the exact cause of the accident remains unclear at press time. Eyewitnesses told Vanguard that the impact left several passengers trapped, while others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
When reporters arrived at the scene, a large crowd had already gathered, with many recording videos of the aftermath. The situation quickly escalated as an angry mob attacked the commercial bus involved in the crash, smashing parts of it in protest.
Shockingly, there was no presence of law enforcement or emergency responders — including the police, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), or the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) — at the time to restore order or aid victims.
The incident caused massive traffic gridlock along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, leaving motorists stranded for hours.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the accident.
