Police Arrest Landlady After New Tenant Disappears with Four Children in Delta State

Tension and fear have gripped the Ogwashi-Uku community in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State after the alleged abduction of four children by suspected child traffickers.

The incident occurred on Sunday, in the Umuokwe quarters of the community, where three unidentified women had recently rented an apartment under suspicious circumstances.

Among the missing children are two siblings, Ebube and Miracle. According to community members, the women reportedly lured the children with biscuits, claiming they were taking them to a nearby shop.

“It was when the children weren’t seen around that neighbors raised an alarm. But by the time we checked the women’s room, it was already empty. They had vanished — along with the children,” a local resident said.

Landlady Arrested for Negligence

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the incident through its spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, who stated that the landlady of the house where the suspects stayed has been arrested.

“The children were abducted just three days after the women moved in. The problem is, there’s no record — no names, no phone numbers, no rental agreement. The landlady didn’t take any details. That’s why she’s currently in custody; her negligence is deeply suspicious,” Edafe explained.

Ongoing Investigations and Community Reaction

The sudden disappearance has left the Ogwashi-Uku community on edge. Local residents are calling on the authorities to intensify efforts to rescue the children and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Security agencies are now combing the area and investigating possible human trafficking rings operating in the region.
