Tuesday’s viral videos showed the musician arguing with some police officers stationed at the recreation centre he runs in Ogun State.
On Saturday, the police said that after his recent arrest, controversial musician Habeeb Okikiola, better known by his stage name Portable, would be charged with more than six counts.
This comes after images that went viral on Tuesday depicted the rapper arguing with some police officers stationed outside the recreation centre he owns in Ogun State.
Muyiwa Adejobi, the force’s public relations officer, revealed information on the case against Portable in a series of tweets.
Adejobi revealed this in response to a tweet that claimed Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, had made racially charged remarks and that the police had refused to detain or question him.
In addition to resisting arrest and hurting a police officer, portable has more than six counts of charges to attend to, he tweeted. “I am sure u are very alert as I have addressed MCs case.”
He will face legal charges for assaulting a man in Otta who had sent a petition to CP Ogun. Many incidents of attacks and assaults on people are still pending, and he will be looked into because of the complaints made against him.
There is no sentiment in the law, so let him show up in court and let the judge hear the accusations against him. In any case, he lacks constitutional immunity.
The measure was conducted after a 72-hour deadline was given to Portable to honour a police invitation, according to the Ogun State police authorities who confirmed Portable’s detention on Friday.
