⚖️ Court Sets June 19 to Hear Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Plea in Alleged False Claim Case

ABUJA – The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Maitama has scheduled June 19, 2025, for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to formally respond to charges filed by the Federal Government, accusing her of making false and defamatory claims on live television.

🚨 Allegations and Charges

The embattled Kogi Central senator, who is currently serving a six-month suspension from the Senate, allegedly accused certain politicians of plotting her assassination during her appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Today on April 3.

The charge, CR/297/25, accuses her of making imputations that could harm reputations, in violation of Section 391 of the Penal Code, and punishable under Section 392.

👥 Key Witnesses Named

The prosecution has listed high-profile witnesses, including:

  • Senate President Godswill Akpabio
  • Former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello
  • Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong
  • Sandra Duru
  • Two investigating police officers, Maya Iliya and Abdulhafiz Garba

All are expected to testify in the case that has attracted significant national attention.
