Sokoto Extends Ramadan Feeding Programme to Additional Communities

February 8, 2025
sokoto

8th February 2025

The Sokoto State Government has announced plans to expand its annual Ramadan feeding programme to benefit more indigent and vulnerable individuals. Governor Ahmed Aliyu made this known on Friday during the inauguration of the remodelled Ruggar Wauru Jumu’at Mosque in Sokoto.

Aliyu stated that preparations for the 2025 Ramadan fast are already underway, with a focus on improving food quality and increasing the number of feeding centres in underserved areas.

The governor also highlighted his administration’s commitment to promoting Islamic affairs, including renovating and constructing mosques and Islamiyya schools across the state. To support religious leaders, the government has allocated monthly stipends for Imams, Deputy Imams, and Muazzins, along with maintenance funds for 90 Jumu’at mosques.

Additionally, Aliyu reaffirmed his support for the recently reactivated Hisbah Board, emphasizing its role in combating social vices while maintaining independence from government interference.

The event was attended by religious leaders and government officials, who praised the governor’s efforts in community development.
