Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, reaffirmed his commitment to granting local government autonomy during the state’s local government elections on Saturday. After casting his vote at Magajin Rafin Primary School in Tundun Wada, Sokoto South, the governor praised the State Independent Electoral Commission for ensuring a smooth voting process.

Governor Aliyu encouraged candidates to accept the election results in good faith and pledged to collaborate with all winners to improve the lives of Sokoto residents.

Similarly, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, the state’s former governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, highlighted the strong voter turnout as a testament to public support for the APC administration. He urged victorious candidates to see their win as a call to serve with integrity and transparency.

APC Chairman Isa Acida also expressed satisfaction with voter turnout and confidence in the party’s candidates, attributing their success to the governor’s performance.

The State Independent Electoral Commission Chairman, Suleiman Aliyu, assured the public of transparent polls, explaining the decision to use manual voting to address complaints from the recent national elections. Fifteen political parties participated in the local elections.
