According to the president of the Spanish FA, Luis Rubiales, Lionel Messi would be given a warm welcome if Barcelona can negotiate his return to La Liga. As Messi’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain runs down, there has been speculation of a possible return to his former club. Rubiales hopes that a deal can be reached, but warns that Financial Fair Play rules will not be altered to assist Barcelona’s efforts to bring the Argentine superstar back to the Camp Nou. He stated that all Spaniards and football fans desire the best players to be in their league and that Messi is unique in the world of football. Messi had spent 20 unforgettable years with Barcelona, winning 35 trophies and scoring 672 goals for the Blaugrana. Rubiales, who played against Messi during his time at Levante, described him as a one-of-a-kind, exceptional and amazing player. Despite Barcelona admitting to discussions with Messi, there is no indication that he will sign a new contract with PSG. However, there are several obstacles for the Catalan giants to overcome before a deal can be made. Moreover, Messi has been linked with possible moves to MLS or the Middle East.
