Spinal Cord Patient Seeks Public Help After 22 Years of Paralysis and Hardship

By Nathaniel Shaibu – May 29, 2025

Daniel Emori, a 43-year-old man from Cross River State, has appealed to the public for support after living with a spinal cord injury for over two decades. Emori, bedridden since October 10, 2003, recounted his tragic accident, which occurred when a stray cow knocked him down during a delivery in Onitsha, Anambra State.

“It lifted me in the air, and when I landed, I broke my neck. That was the moment my life changed forever,” Emori said.

The incident, which happened while he was working as a driver for Rico Pharmaceutical Company, left him permanently paralyzed. Since then, Emori has been confined to his bed, surviving in dire conditions, with little access to food or basic healthcare.

A Life Changed by Tragedy

Originally from Adadama Community in Abi LGA of Cross River, Emori had moved to Anambra after completing his Senior Secondary Certificate Examination in 2000, seeking better opportunities. He worked his way up from a machine operator to a certified driver, only for his aspirations to be cut short by the accident.

Now, 22 years later, he says his health has worsened, and doctors once recommended treatment abroad in India, but he was unable to raise the funds.

“I no longer speak of surgery or treatment. My health has deteriorated so much that only a miracle might help now. What I truly need is daily support — especially food and medicine for my bedsores,” he pleaded.

A Call for Humanitarian Support

With his family struggling to sustain him, Emori is now calling on the Nigerian government, NGOs, individuals, and religious groups to assist with his basic daily needs.

Anyone willing to support him can send donations to:

  • Bank: United Bank for Africa (UBA)
  • Account Name: Daniel Emori
  • Account Number: 2072008766
  • Phone Contacts: 07031655209, 08082453717
