
Troops Kill Three Bandits in Plateau During Military Operation in Wase LGA
Wase, Plateau State — May 31, 2025 — Nigerian troops under Operation SAFE HAVEN have neutralised three armed bandits in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, following a targeted offensive launched in the early hours of Saturday.
Credible Intelligence Sparks Operation
Major Samson Zhakom, spokesperson for the military task force, disclosed in a statement that the operation was based on credible intelligence pointing to the location of bandit hideouts along the fringes of Pinau Village.
“The troops made contact with the bandits terrorising the area, particularly along the Pinau–Gimbi road. A fierce gun battle ensued, and our forces overwhelmed the criminals with superior firepower,” Zhakom said.
Weapons Recovered and Bandits Flee with Injuries

Troops are currently conducting follow-up operations in the area to track down the fleeing criminals and prevent further attacks in the region.

Zhakom emphasized the army’s resolve to continue dismantling criminal networks in the region:
“Troops of 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN will consolidate on this success to enhance combat readiness and decisively deal with armed groups across the Joint Operations Area.”
